On Tuesday 8 April 2025, the special (S)He Works / I Care edition at the Porte des Landes Est service area was dedicated to the presentation of the new column parking concept currently being prepared at the Lugos Est rest area. This Intelligent Transport System (ITS) project is part of the European MATIS project.
Egis Exploitation Aquitaine staff had mobilised strongly, reinforced by colleagues from other operators abroad and in particular from Poland, facilitating communication with foreign drivers.

Around sixty lorry drivers (no female drivers for this edition…) came to meet our agents and discover the concept and the model of the computer interface with which they will be invited to enter the parking duration or the departure time.

Already familiar to several drivers who have already been able to try out this concept in Germany, the parking logic and especially the additional spaces on offer have been well received. Of course, questions about breakdowns, delays or poor positioning were asked, but the answers were deemed satisfactory! Thus, the maintenance of a traffic lane and access for emergency services, the fact that the parking area will be constantly monitored from the Saugnac-et-Muret control centre, which will be able to close lanes or send staff, or even the display of truck departure times on a large panel have greatly reassured drivers. But the advantages of this intelligent transport system give rise to new expectations for ever greater comfort, such as the issue of the positioning of refrigerated lorries… So there is still room for further developments!
